The Killing of the Demon Dhenukasura and Krishna Chastises the Serpent Kaliya

Puzzle 1: Hearing the sound of the falling fruits, the ass demon Dhenuka ran forward to attack making the earth and trees tremble. The demon rushed to Lord Baladeva and struck the Lord’s chest with the hooves of his hind legs. Moving again the furious ass situated himself with his back towards the Lord and hurled his two hind legs at Him. Lord Balarama seized Dhenuka by his hooves, whirled him about with one hand, and threw him into the top of a palm tree and thus killed the demon. One after another all the palm trees in the forest shook and broke.

Puzzle 2: Sri Krishna the origin of everything, pushed down Kaliya’s raised shoulders and mounted his broad serpentine heads, and began to dance on the 101 prominent heads. When one head would not bow down, Sri Krishna would smash that stubborn head by striking it with His feet. Kaliya would occasionally dare to raise up one of his heads heavily breathing with anger, then the Lord would dance on it and subdue it, forcing it to bow down with His foot.
